How it Works

Typically, we will start the process with an informal conversation. The primary reason for this meeting is to help you understand if coaching is something you want to explore further and to help you decide if I am the right coach for you.

If you decide to proceed, the first coaching session is a little different to the following sessions. The first session is designed to:

  • Clarify how a normal coaching session would be run

  • Agree the boundaries around confidentiality

  • Agree commitment to attend the sessions or be available on the planned dates/times

  • Confirm the ground rules

  • Discuss, refine and break down any particular goals or aspirations you have

The value of a coach is asking you the really important questions that you never ask yourself. The actual sessions do not have to take place face to face; they are effective over a video call, using something like Zoom.

Coaching engagements can vary greatly, but a typical engagement would be 5 to 8 sessions, each session 60 minutes in duration, meeting weekly or fortnightly. Executive sessions may be 90 minutes or longer.

Come prepared

You should come to the sessions with a topic and ideally knowing what you want to achieve from our session. You may want to consider having a pen and pad to jot down thoughts and notes... and of course, to write down the actions that you intend to take after the session has ended.

Confidentiality

The contents of our 1:1 sessions will be treated as confidential by default. If you have a sponsor, you and I can agree on what level of summary or progress information you are happy for me to share if they ask.
